How to install WordPress on GoDaddy ?(Last Updated On: July 18, 2017)
WordPress is definitely the most powerful CMS out there. You can build any type of website from blogs to eCommerce websites. If want to learn more about WordPress and want to experiment with WordPress, better to go with free web hosting service for few days. If you already have purchased hosting from GoDaddy, then this quick post will help you to install WordPress on GoDaddy.
step 1: log in to GoDaddy hosting CPanel
when you log in to GoDaddy account you see tabs for domains, web hosting, workspace email. If you do not have any domain registered with GoDaddy, you will not see Domains tab.
step 2: Scroll down and search for web applications
You will see a WordPress icon, click on it.
You can install WordPress manually, but here we will install using a WordPress installer application called Installatron which is easy to use.
Note: There are many WordPress installer applications like Softaculous in SiteGround and InMotion, cpanelQuickInstall in HostGator, Fantastico in some other hosting CPanel.
step3: fill out the configuration form and hit install
As you want to install WordPress on GoDaddy root directory. So, keep it just your website URL and keep the directory empty.
You need to edit only location and settings section. No need to edit other sections unless you are aware of what you are doing.
Website title and website tagline can be changed later on.
Now, just hit install and all is done.
You can access your WordPress dashboard through http://yoursite.com/wp-admin
An error you may encounter while installing WordPress on GoDaddy:
- Database error (if you have used up your maximum allowed databases )
